Velvet - Monster High Lagoona Repaint by IvyHeartDesigns Velvet - Monster High Lagoona Repaint by IvyHeartDesigns
Velvet was created using a Monster High Lagoona Blue doll by Mattel. All factory paint was removed and she received a full facial repaint in artist acrylics and sealers. I also removed all her original hair and gave her a full reroot in raven black. I thought it really looked gorgeous with her skintone and her new faceup! Hope you like her! :)

Velvet is currently for sale here...

I am not affiliated with the makers or designers of these dolls. I simply use these gorgeous dolls as a canvas for my own artistic expression!

I always wondered what Lagoona would like with black hair hehe. Now I know! :-)

Lol.... she looks a little different but I like the dark hair on her. Always nice to have something completely opposite, don't you think. :)

I adore this repaint. Those eyes are gorgeous! I'm very curious on how you got her such nice black hair though. I myself am planning on repainting and rehairing a doll, but don't know what the best approach is. Care to share your secret? :)

Aww thanks so much... glad you like her. She is one of my faves too! :)
I actually use Saran Katsilk hair for re-rooting. It does what its told better than nylon and looks much more natural (well I think so.. lol). The colour on this girl is raven black and if you google 'doll hair' you will find a few stores that sell it. For a Monster High size head and if your wanting long hair, you would need 2 regular packets. For the technique... honestly, I have no secrets... I use the standard 'hand knotted' method. Its very time consuming but I find it the most sturdy and it seems to sit better. There are other methods of re-rooting though and its entirely up to the individual as to which you use. You can find tutorials on how to do re-roots online... there's a few around but if you have any problems, just let me know and I'll find some links for you.  :huggle:

Thank you for the details! I'm super afraid to try rerooting because the tutorials I've seen aren't clear enough for me and it looks complicated. Then I wouldn't know how to cut it to make it look good after. I think I'm going to stick with buying a wigs for now.

Lol... these days, I tend to often go for wigs simply because re-rooting takes a LOOOOONG time! And great thing about wigs is you can change them up as well. I've found alot of my customers prefer wigs for that reason. :)
But when your feeling more confident, definitely try a re-root... just so you can say you've been there and done that! lol

oh my goodness I tried rerooting a few days ago and I was so mad I had to stop and make a yarn wig. Thankfully it looked fluffy like fro hair and worked very well! I think from now on I'll buy or make a wig. :)

I'll have to get some better pictures of her, but my last post is of the doll I did. It mostly shows the mask I made her though, not the hair.

Oh Wow!! She looks fantastic... and that mask is wonderful. I can't wait to see her finished in a feather skirt etc. Let me know when she is completely finished... I really would like to see her!
