Persephones Song - Mermaid Art by IvyHeartDesigns Persephones Song - Mermaid Art by IvyHeartDesigns
Lovely Persephone is #3 in my Mermaid Song series. She was created using a bend wrist & arm Barbie by Mattel. As usual, all factory paint was fully removed and she was given a full facial repaint in artist acrylics and sealers. She also features hand painted tattooing around her belly and painted jewels on her face and under her breast area. She comes with her own custom base. Hope you like her! :)

I am not affiliated with Mattel in any way. I simply use their lovely dolls as a canvas for my own artistic expression! :)

lovely!

out of curiosity is it possible to get away with creating a custom that has brown hair and purple eyes?

Thanks! And yes, those colours could work. I guess it really depends on the shade of each colour.

I Love her! I too am starting to make my own ooak barbies and I could use some tips on what paints sealers and clays are the best to use. I love this doll, but would very much like to see a full figure with base :-)

So sorry for the late reply... I've been swamped with study!  There are some wonderful sealers out there but I use Jo Sonya brand in sealers and acrylic paints. I find them wonderful.  For the clay part, you need a good quality epoxy clay (they are usually two part) for things like building areas up, re-sculpting faces, ears etc. There are some epoxy clays that are directed at modelling and you can also use the ones that you get in the hardware store. I know that many artists use polymer clay to create tails for mermaids etc but I havn't tried this as yet. Hope that helps! :huggle:
